New CRC Water Conservation ProgramsSave water around your yard this summer!Spring planting season is right around the corner and the City of Boulder, in partnership with the Center for ReSource Conservation (CRC), offers numerous programs and resources that help conserve water around your lawn and garden. Beginning March 2, the CRC will offer garden supplies, trees, drip irrigation kits, compost, mulch and other items aimed at reducing the water used on the landscape around your home. New Products and Programs1. Garden-in-a-Box Landscaping in our arid climate doesn't have to be a challenge. There are many wonderful plants that require little water and do well in our clay soils. Put a few of these species together and you've created a beautiful xeriscape, or Water-Wise landscape. In partnership with the City of Boulder, the Center for ReSource Conservation has done the planning and design process for you to make establishing your own xeriscape a breeze. Each design comes with 30-40 plants, a design layout and planting & maintenance instructions. Prices range from $65-$125 depending on the design. Gardens go on sale March 2nd and are available for pick-up May 9th. Limited quantities available so get yours before they sell out! Garden Essentials Once you've got your Garden-in-a-Box, don't forget the rest of the garden essentials to complete your project. City of Boulder residents can purchase low-cost drip irrigation kits, compost and mulch through the Center for ReSource Conservation. Many of these items are also eligible for a rebate! Trees Across Boulder Plant a tree that's right for Boulder's arid climate. In partnership with the Center for ReSource Conservation, the City of Boulder is offering eight different tree species at low-cost to Boulder residents this spring. All species have been chosen by the Urban Forestry Department for their ability to thrive in Boulder's climate. Trees are 1.25 caliper inch, are balled and burlapped and are between 5 and 10 feet tall upon pick-up. All trees go on sale Monday, March 2 and cost $50. WaterWise Landscape Seminars The City of Boulder, in partnership with the Center for ReSource Conservation (CRC) is offering a series of FREE WaterWise landscaping seminars from Monday April 6 through Saturday, April 11, 2009. Each seminar is two hours long and is taught by a local landscape professional. The seminars will cover everything from introduction to xeriscaping to more advanced-level topics such as edible xeriscaping and landscape renovation. Slow the Flow Colorado Slow the Flow Colorado provides FREE irrigation audits for residents and homeowner associations within the City of Boulder. A trained auditor will visit your location and provide custom information on items like sprinkler system efficiency and watering schedules. Audit requests can be submitted year round, but they only take place between June and August and are scheduled on a first come, first served basis.
