Kirk Kincannon was appointed the Parks and Recreation Director in May 2009.
Before joining the City of Boulder, Kincannon has been the director of the Department of Recreation, Parks and Cultural Activities for the City of Alexandria, Va. since 2004. From 2000 to 2004, he served as the deputy director of parks operations, natural resources and capital projects for Alexandria and from 1995 to 2000, he was director of the Parks and Recreation Department for Wythe County, Va. Kincannon has also served in a variety of capacities within the parks and recreation field since 1985.
Kincannon has a Bachelor of Arts in Recreation, Leisure Services and Physical Education from Virginia Wesleyan College in Norfolk, Va.
Kincannon provides vision, leadership and direct management for all City of Boulder municipal parks, recreation centers (and programs), aquatics, sports, historic and cultural facilities, the Boulder Reservoir and the Flatirons Golf Course.
