Environmental Education Program Topics

Choose a program from the list below. We prefer to present these programs outdoors on OSMP, but can bring some programs to your classroom. Most of these programs can also be given in Spanish for groups of all ages. If your desired topic is not on this list, please be sure to ask; we may be able to accommodate you.

We can tailor these topics to match your specific needs and meet specific State of Colorado Teaching Standards and benchmarks. When you register, please let us know how to adapt the topic to reinforce your lesson plans or curriculum.

Outdoor Safety: Caring for your land, Leave No Trace ethics, stewardship, outdoor and hiking safety

Ecology: general ecology; wetland ecology; fire ecology; winter ecology; habitats and ecosystems of Open Space and Mountain Parks

Wildlife: prairie dogs, mountain lions, bats, black bears, raptors, predators, bones and skulls, animal tracks and sign

Evolution: evolution / natural selection and other mechanisms; adaptations

Seasonal Changes: fall, winter, spring, summer, climate (drought)

Plants: invasive weeds; wildflowers; seeds; native plant gardening
