report-to-community_

The Division of Children, Youth and Families (CYF) is one of four divisions within the City of Boulder Department of Human Services. The division was created in 1994 through the merger of the Children's Services, Youth Services, Family Resource School programs and the Mediation Service. CYF programs have evolved to meet changing community needs, and offer a range of comprehensive services.

Mission

To support children, youth and families through regional collaborative planning, community funding, high quality programs and education.

Programs Overview

Child Care Subsidy and Enhanced Referrals Program - Financial assistance and help finding quality child care

Child Care Recruitment and Training Program - Training for new and existing child care providers

Family Resource Schools Program - Capacity building for elementary student families

Community Mediation Service - Non-judicial conflict resolution and landlord/tenant relationship support

Prevention and Intervention Program - Support for middle and high school students and their families

Youth Opportunities Program - Leadership and grant-making program for city youth

Common Objectives

Although each program within CYF offers a unique set of services, there are a few key features they share in common:

  • Work in partnership with other community agencies and institutions to better integrate and coordinate services for families, and make them more accessible.
  • Provide programming with a focus on building family strengths.
  • Analyze community needs and recommend the development of "family friendly" public policy.
