Junior Ranger Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
I'm a second session Junior Ranger, when do I get paid?
For July 10-20, the pay date is August 1; for July 17-27, the pay date is August 15; and for July 31-August 10, the pay date is August 29.
Do I have to submit a reference form?
If you have never worked for the Junior Ranger Program before, you must submit one reference form
completed by an adult other than a relative (i.e. a teacher, coach, or youth leader). References must be submitted by the application deadline of April 2, 2012, so don't forget to give your reference person enough time to complete the form.
If you applied last year and submitted a reference but were not hired, you must still submit a reference form this year.
Can I be considered for both sessions?
Yes. The application requires that you select a session preference. If you are available to work both sessions, you may indicate that availability to your interviewer in April.
Can I be hired for more than one session?
Due to the competitive nature of the application process, you can only be hired for one session.
Do I have to live in Boulder to apply?
No. There is no residency requirement to apply for the Junior Ranger Program.
If I'm applying to the Boulder County Youth Corps, do I need to submit a different application for Junior Rangers?
Yes. City of Boulder Open Space and Mountain Parks Junior Rangers and Boulder County Youth Corps are unrelated programs administered by the City of Boulder and the County of Boulder respectively.
