Bicycle RegistrationThe Boulder Police Department has a bicycle registration program to help combat the ongoing problem of bicycle theft in Boulder. In 2000, over $160,000 in bicycles were stolen. Owners were able to report the serial number of their stolen bicycle in only about 20 percent of the cases. Without the serial number, it is very difficult to prove a recovered bicycle is stolen, or to return it to its owner. The bicycle registration program serves to deter theft and aid in returning recovered property. It is a free program funded by the Boulder Police Department. As part of the program, your name and contact information is recorded, along with the bicycle make, model and serial number. Bicycle owners receive a copy of their registration information and a tamper-resistent registration sticker will be affixed to a visible area on the bike. The information is then entered into a police database in case the bicycle is ever reported stolen and you need the information. To register your bicycle, come to either of the following locations:
