Jan. 3 Update on Ramsey Case

Boulder Police continue to investigate the Ramsey homicide. This case has been designated as the highest priority of the Boulder Police Department until further notice. The latest information Police can release includes the following:

  • Police anticipate releasing the crime scene later tonight (Friday) or tomorrow (Saturday).

  • Police are planning to have their field officers who went to Atlanta back on Monday.

  • Police are aware that the Ramsey family flew into the Jefferson County Airport early this morning. Police have not confirmed a time to speak with the Ramseys, but are in the process of setting up that appointment.

  • The voice mail tip line which was set up yesterday has received a substantial number of calls. Police have assigned personnel to log and monitor the calls and will respond to those that show promise. The calls have included opinions, suggestions, theory and possible leads.

In response to comments and criticism about not confirming rumors or providing extensive details of the case, the Police Department states they will continue to investigate this case with the highest professional standards. The Boulder Police Department has a long history of highly competent police work and enjoys the support of the community. There are certain facts in this case that only the killer and police are aware of and it is vital to our investigation that the integrity of the information remain intact. The likelihood of getting a successful conclusion to this case is based on maintaining the security of this information.
