| MUNICIPAL COURT H1N1 VIRUS ANNOUNCEMENT |
 |
The Municipal Court has taken several steps to safeguard our employees and the public from exposure to the H1N1 virus. We ask that you assist us in containing the spread of this virus by staying home from court if you have H1N1 flu symptoms. While we cannot guarantee the total eradication of the threat, we have done everything in our power to limit the spread of the H1N1 virus. Some of the steps taken are as follows:
- Sanitizer, Clorox wipes and gloves are available at public work stations and in all restrooms;
- Hourly disinfecting of public access areas (restrooms, counter tops, handrails, and courtrooms);
- Public Health Advisories on coughing and hand-washing are posted in English and Spanish throughout our facilities;
- Trained all staff members on influenza like symptoms (fever generally over 100.4˚F with either cough or sore throat), when to stay home to prevent the spread of H1N1, and other training on prevention measures for family, co-workers, and customers who come into contact with the court;
- H1N1 Status Reports conveyed to entire staff to ensure access to the most current information from the World Health Organization, Centers for Disease Control, Governor’s Department of Public Health and Environment, and the Boulder County Health Department.
In addition to visiting our court, we offer the following alternatives to defendants who wish to take care of non-trial related court business from work or home:
- Online option: Make payments at www.bouldercolorado.gov/court; visit the Municipal Court department webpage at to get information on paying parking tickets, photo radar and photo red light tickets, no proof of insurance violatations, court location, juror information and mail-in instructions.
- Phone In option: Dial 303-441-1842 to make payments, obtain court dates, request a new court date, and report other problems or concerns with your court case.
- Mail In options: Mail correspondence should be addressed to Boulder Municipal Court, PO Box 8015, Boulder, CO 80306. Mail payments (only for mail-in eligible offenses as marked on the ticket) or requests to be postponed/excused from jury service.
- Special Requests: If you cannot come to court due to the H1N1 flu and your ticket is not a mail-in ticket, you may call the court for a new date at the phone number listed above. You can also request that your case be resolved without a court appearance. The prosecutor and the judge will review your request to determine if that is possible. You will be notified by mail of the decision. To make a special request, click here, or send a letter to the address above.
We encourage you to use any of the above options to resolve your matter with the courts, which will help you avoid the serious consequences of ignoring any court cases that are pending against you.

CHANGE IN BOULDER MUNICIPAL COURT PRE-TRIAL PROCESS
In an effort to streamline the pre-trial negotiation process, the Boulder Municipal Court will no longer schedule pre-trial conferences. Defendants requesting a pre-trial conference will be scheduled for a disposition/trial setting date on the Court’s docket and directed to contact the City Attorney’s Office to schedule a pre-trial conference or meeting at a date and time convenient to the parties. It will be the parties’ responsibility to conclude plea negotiations before the disposition/trial setting date. At the disposition/trial setting date, the Court will receive any plea agreement reached by the parties or set the case for trial. Defendants who appear at arraignment and wish to speak with a prosecutor will still have that opportunity.
