Mission Statement

The mission of the City Manager's Office includes the provision of professional leadership in the administration and execution of policies and objectives formulated by City Council, the development and recommendation of alternative solutions to community problems for council consideration, the planning and development of new programs to meet future needs of the city, preparation of the annual budget and to foster community pride in city government through excellent customer service.

City Manager

Jane S. Brautigam was appointed City Manager in October 2008 and is the city's first female manager in its 90 year history.

2012_Jane_photo_smaller_for_webBefore joining the City of Boulder, Brautigam was city manager for Dublin, Ohio from 2002-08. Previously she worked as the city manager (2000-2002) and city attorney (1996-2000) for Loveland, Colo.; the city attorney (1988-1995) and assistant city attorney (1985-1988) for Greenwood Village, Colo.; and as assistant county attorney for Boulder County (1983-1985).

Brautigam earned a Bachelor of Arts in history from Allegheny College and a law degree from the University of Pennsylvania Law School.

The city manager manages the day-to-day business of the city government, sets strategic direction to achieve the city's community sustainability goals, implements council determined policies, coordinates community issues between departments, and supervises the work of departments.
