Michael Patton

Michael Patton

Mike Patton has been the Director of Open Space and Mountain Parks since 2002. In this role, he oversees the management of 42,000 acres of public lands purchased by the citizens of Boulder.

The OSMP Department employees a staff of 72, performing tasks including trails maintenance and construction, a wide variety of environmental preservation activities, GIS, environmental planning, land acquisition and administrative tasks.

Patton has been with the City of Boulder since 1973. He served as the Director of Human Resources (1973 - 1995), the Community and Visitor Services Division Manager (1995 - 2000) and the Co-Director of Open Space and Mountain Parks (2000 - 2002).

Patton graduated from the University of Maryland. He double majored in Biology and Business/Journalism.

Patton also served nine years for the Board of Colorado Therapeutic Riding Club and was the Vice President for five years.

He enjoys skiing and reading books written by Michael Crichton.
