Ken was elected to Council in the July 2007 Special Election. He was a member of the Water Resources Advisory Board from March 2002 through March 2007 and served as the chair from March 2006 through the end of his term.

Ken has worked on neighborhood livability issues since 2000 as one of the early members of the University Hill Neighborhood Association and served on the Executive Committee of that organization from July 2002 through July 2004.

Ken is an engineer and scientist, working at Bell Labs and AT&T from 1980 through 1998. From 1998 to spring 2007, he ran a Boulder-based telecommunications consulting business. Ken started a second career in microbiology at the University of Colorado in 2005 and is now a graduate student in the Department of Ecological and Evolutionary Biology at CU, working on a second Master's Degree.

Ken has lived in Boulder since 1995 and has roots in Boulder and Colorado that go back to earlier times. His grandfather, a retired dean from Oklahoma State University, rented a cottage at Chautauqua in the early 1950s and Ken remembers running around Chautauqua as a child. Ken has relatives who were prospectors and smithies in the Carbondale area as early as 1880.

Ken lives on University Hill with his wife Priscilla. They have two daughters, Willow, who is a writer, and Meredith, who is a senior at CU. Ken and Priscilla live with an aging dog, Cinnamon and an elderly cat, Frisky.
