2008 Walk & Bike Month's Walk & Bike to Work Day
Statistics and Information
alfies_the_line.jpg
One day. One big chunk out of Boulder's carbon footprint.

In 2008, Bike to Work Day participation grew by more than 45 percent. With more than 7,500 Boulder Bike to Work Day commuters this added approximately 2,400 participants to last year's record of 5,100. The number of participating companies outshined last year's numbers too, more than 260 companies participated this year, compared to the roughly 150 in 2007. The event coaxed new and experienced bikers alike with more than 2,600 cyclists biking to work for the first time.

"The contribution we made in one day to decreasing Boulder 's carbon imprint is staggering," says GO Boulder 's Walk & Bike Month Coordinator Sue Prant. "We hope that people feel proud of their contribution and continue to choose to bike (bus, walk, telework) instead of driving on a regular basis. We can all make a difference."

  • 7,541 participants
  • 264 companies
  • 2600 first-time participants
  • 35 breakfast stations
  • 17 bike repair stations
