Police look for sexual assault suspect

Boulder investigators are asking for the public’s assistance in locating a suspect in a recent sexual assault case. The suspect – 36-year-old Ricardo Solis Garcia – is accused of sexually assaulting a young woman on Feb. 5 in Boulder. A warrant for his arrest has been issued.

The victim in the case reported that she and some other friends had gone out on Feb. 4.  The victim and her friends were joined by Garcia who was a casual acquaintance.  At one point, the suspect pulled the victim into the men’s room at a local bar, kissed her and told her that he loved her. She stopped him and told him she had a boyfriend.  In the early morning hours of Feb. 5, Garcia walked with the victim and her friend to the friend’s home. When they arrived at the friend’s residence, Garcia, who was drunk, told the friend of the victim that his car was parked far away.  Not wanting Garcia to drive while intoxicated, she gave him permission to sleep on her couch.  The victim and her friend then went to sleep in a separate room.  At about 4 a.m., the victim awoke to find the suspect on top of her having sex with her. She said she repeatedly told him to stop, but he did not comply until she forced him off of her. Subsequent investigation substantiated the victim’s allegations.

solisgarciaGarcia faces two counts of felony sexual assault.

Detectives have been unable to locate him at his home; at Naropa University, where he was attending classes; or at his former workplace.  He has also been known to use the names Ricardo Solis, Lalo Solis and has gone by the nickname “Rigo.”

Anyone with any information about the suspect or his whereabouts is asked to call Detective Colleen Wilcox at 303-441-3300. Those who have information but wish to remain anonymous may contact the Northern Colorado Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) or 1-800-444-3776.  Tips can also be submitted via the Crime Stoppers Web site at www.crimeshurt.com.  Those submitting tips through Crime Stoppers that lead to the arrest and filing of charges on a suspect(s) may be eligible for a cash reward of up to $1,000 from Crime Stoppers.
