Section No. 7-6-13(a)(2): Parking within Intersection Prohibited
It is against the law for a vehicle to stop or park within an intersection. An intersection is the area defined by the extension of the curb lines of the two cross streets (see diagram below).
Vehicles parked or stopped within an intersection pose a safety issue as turning vehicles require more room to navigate than those traveling straight. Additionally, vehicles stopped or parked in this manner make it difficult for other vehicles traveling through the intersection to see traffic in the area. This creates the potential for accidents.
