Section No. 7-6-13(a)(5): Parking In or On Bridge/Tunnel/Underpass
Vehicles are not allowed to park on any bridge or other elevated structure, or within a street tunnel or underpass. These structures are not designed to provide space for stopped or parked vehicles. Parking in tunnels and underpasses poses a safety issue due to space restraints and the often dramatic lighting differences encountered when entering such structures from bright daylight. Many bridges have an uphill grade, making it difficult for approaching vehicles to see a stopped or parked vehicle until it is too late to avoid an accident.
