Urban Forestry Division

Urban Forestry will place pheromone packets in all the Scotch and Austrian pine trees on the Pearl Street Mall and Keewaydin Park, located at Manhattan and Sioux; the pheromones will be up from July through October, 2011. The packets contain Verbenone, a mountain pine beetle anti-aggregation pheromone to prevent attack by mountain pine beetles.

Transportation/Maintenance

Transportation Maintenance will apply Rodeo, an EPA Category III herbicide, to Japanese knotweed after cutting and removing the plant material and then injecting the cut stalks with a syringe, at the following locations along the Boulder Creek Path:

  • Sunshine Creek and Boulder Creek
  • 6th Street and Boulder Creek
  • Southwest of the athletics practice field
  • 55th and Boulder Creek.

Open Space & Mountain Parks

Open Space and Mountain Park (OSMP) staff will spot apply Rodeo, an EPA Category III herbicide, to cattail for leopard frog habitat enhancement on the Damyonovich property, located south of Marshall Drive and west of 66th Street.

OSMP contractor and staff will cut-stump apply Rodeo and Garlon 4, EPA Category III herbicides, to Russian olive on Sombrero Marsh property, located south of Arapahoe Road and west of 75th Street.

OSMP staff will cut stump apply Garlon 4, an EPA Category III herbicide, to invasive Russian olives northwest of Wonderland Lake on Wednesday at Anna Dunn property, located west of Broadway, south of Utica Avenue and north of Popular Avenue.

OSMP staff will spot and cut stump apply Garlon 4, an EPA Category III herbicide, to tree of heaven on Wednesday to the Chautauqua/ Lower McClintock trail area located behind the Chautauqua Auditorium.

Parks & Recreation Parks Operations

Parks & Recreation Parks Operations will spot apply Nature's Avenger, a natural herbicide, to various weeds in the landscaped beds and parking islands at the main library, located at 1001 Arapahoe Avenue.

Parks & Recreation Parks Operations will apply Fiesta, an iron-based natural herbicide, to the turf between the Municipal Building and the main library, located at 1777 Broadway.

A Parks & Recreation lessee, Diamond Baseball, will spot apply AquaNeat (glyphosate) to weeds at the baseball field warning  track at Scott Carpenter Park, located at 30th Street and Arapahoe.
