Monday - Friday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. (excluding holidays)

Field inspectors are available by telephone from 7:30 to 8 a.m.

Inspection Services:

Inspection Services conducts all inspections necessary to complete the City of Boulder construction permit process. After a building permit is issued, inspections are required for all work done under the permit. For building inspections, this includes, but is not limited to, footing and foundation inspections, framing and insulation inspections and final inspections. The electrical, plumbing and mechanical inspections consist of a rough-in inspection and a final inspection.

Based upon the type of work requiring a permit, various progress inspections and a final inspection are required. For a complete list of inspections needed on your construction permit, go to the online Construction Permit Status Report.

A general contractor licensed with the City of Boulder is required to obtain building permits to perform work on all multi-family and non-residential buildings. Homeowners may act as a contractor on work performed in their own residence. If construction materials, methods and practices are unfamiliar to you, you may want to hire a licensed contractor.
