Oct. 21, 2011 - TIME CHANGE - Lane closures at the intersection of Arapahoe Avenue & Cherryvale RoadContact: TIME CHANGE - Lane closures at the intersection of Arapahoe Avenue and Cherryvale Road For the week of Monday, Oct. 24, there will be both daytime and nighttime turn lane closures at the intersection of Arapahoe Avenue and Cherryvale Road. City of Boulder Utilities crews will be working to relocate a 12-inch water main in the intersection, as part of the advance work for an upcoming Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) road-widening project. Traffic in the area will encounter significant delays. Alternate routes are advised. As part of the water main relocation project, the following lane closures will be in effect:
Access to business entrances will be maintained during their hours of operation. Traffic control devices will be in place and special project signs will be posted in the areas in and around the intersection. City water customers who may experience water outages associated with the work have been notified directly in advance. The relocation of the 12-inch water main is the first phase of this project, and is expected to be complete by Wednesday, Nov. 2. The week of Monday, Nov. 7, crews will begin to remove a large diameter, concrete transmission main that runs across the intersection of Arapahoe Avenue and Cherryvale Road. A new water main will then be lowered in its place. The second phase of the project will also result in lane closures on weeknights, from 7 p.m to 6 a.m., and on Sundays, from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. The entire project is expected to be completed by Monday, Nov. 21.
