Energy Future News Update

Second edition of Energy Future newsletter available

The latest edition of Boulder’s Energy Future Today newsletter is now available online at www.BoulderEnergyFuture.com. Printed versions will be available at the end of the week in at various city buildings around town, including all libraries, recreation and senior centers, and the Municipal Building lobby at 1777 Broadway.

Entries in this edition include:

  • An interview with Heather Bailey, the city’s new executive director of energy strategy and electric utility development
  • The city’s response to Xcel’s solar rebate and incentives filing with the Colorado Public Utilities Commission (PUC)
  •  Information about EnergySmart services available to homeowners, landlords, and businesses
  • Upcoming events and key dates

Monthly newsletters will be created and distributed throughout the duration of the project. Sign up for the project e-mail list to receive an electronic version of the newsletter and frequent project updates.

Boulder’s Energy Future project speaker series continues

To help inform residents, business leaders and other interested individuals about issues surrounding climate change and energy, the City of Boulder has launched a spring speaker series as part of the Boulder’s Energy Future project. The city will host guest lecturers and partner with community organizations to highlight topics that are related to the goals, opportunities and challenges of Boulder’s Energy Future.

The following City of Boulder hosted event is free and open to the public. All city speaking events will be recorded and will be available on the Energy Future website after the event date.

Population, Arithmetic and Energy with Professor Emeritus Al Bartlett – University of Colorado at Boulder

  • Sunday, May 6, 2012
  • 2 to 4 p.m.
  • West Boulder Senior Center – 909 Arapahoe Ave.

More speaker series dates are possible.  New dates, times and locations will be announced and posted on the project website under “Events” as soon as they are confirmed.

Environmental Advisory Board continues discussion about climate action in Boulder; public feedback opportunity

The city’s Environmental Advisory Board (EAB) is meeting twice a month (on the second and fourth Thursdays) to provide direction on anticipated enhancements to the way the city approaches climate action. The work is expected to result in an updated framework for goals, programs and funding in 2013 and beyond.

The next meeting will be held at 6 p.m. on Thursday, May 10, in the City Council Chambers, 1777 Broadway. The public is invited to provide feedback during this process.
