Online registration deadline is May 16 for Boulder’s 2012 Community Cleanup Day

Online registration closes on Wednesday, May 16, for the 10th annual Community Cleanup Day, which is from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 19. Day-of-event registration will be held from 8 to 8:30 a.m. at Scott Carpenter Park, located at 30th Street and Arapahoe Avenue. The event, sponsored by the City of Boulder, Boulder City Improvement Association II (BCIA 2) and the Daily Camera, provides volunteer opportunities for individuals and groups to help clean up a variety of parks, greenways, creeks and paths throughout the city.

After the cleanup, participants are invited to attend an ice cream social from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Scott Carpenter Park, Harlow Platts Park (1360 Gillaspie Drive) or Valmont Bike Park (northeast corner of Valmont and Airport roads). All participants will receive a free, one-day pass to the Boulder Reservoir and will have a chance to win one of several gifts offered in a prize drawing.

Second edition of Energy Future newsletter available

The latest edition of Boulder’s Energy Future Today newsletter is now available online at www.BoulderEnergyFuture.com and in various city buildings around town, including all libraries, recreation and senior centers, and the Municipal Building Lobby at 1777 Broadway. Entries in this edition include:

  • An interview with Heather Bailey, the city’s new Executive Director of Energy Strategy and Electric Utility Development
  • The city’s response to Xcel’s filing with the Colorado Public Utilities Commission (PUC) about rebate and incentive programs
  • EnergySmart services available to homeowners, landlords, and businesses
  • Upcoming events

May 16 Energy Future speaker event cancelled

The Boulder Energy Future Speaker Series event with Tendril Inc. scheduled for Wednesday, May 16, has been cancelled.  Additional events may be scheduled. Please visit www.BoulderEnergyFuture.com to learn about upcoming events and to sign up for the e-mail list.

The Speaker Series was established by the city to help inform residents, business leaders and other interested individuals about issues surrounding climate change and energy. The city has hosted guest lecturers and partnered with community organizations to highlight topics that are related to the goals, opportunities and challenges of Boulder’s Energy Future. Previous events have been recorded and will be available on the Energy Future website as soon as possible. 

Municipal Court closed morning of May 11 

Boulder Municipal Court will be closed from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Friday, May 11, for a staff meeting.
