Parks and Recreation Department to host community events regarding implementation of Boulder Reservoir Master Plan

The Boulder Parks and Recreation Department will host five community events over the next two months regarding implementation of the recently adopted Reservoir Master Plan. These events are designed to engage the community in discussions about trends relevant to implementation goals identified in the master plan.

The events will provide opportunities for reservoir users to continue working with staff to balance the management of recreation activities with the natural resources of the reservoir for present and future generations.

The community events are:

  • Coot Lake Walkabout TONIGHT
    • Join Matt Claussen, urban resource manager, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, June 14, for a walk around Coot Lake to discuss issues surrounding wildlife, habitat protection, dog management and general visitor use. The group will meet at Tom Watson Park, 6280 N. 63rd St. Information: Matt Claussen, 303-413-7258.  

 

  • Non-Motorized Boating Tour June 19
    • Join Stacy Cole, Boulder Reservoir manager, for a non-motorized boating tour from 6 to 7:30 a.m. on Tuesday, June 19, at Boulder Reservoir, 5565 N. 51st St., to discuss issues surrounding no-wake hours, permit fees, aquatic nuisance species (ANS) inspections and boat storage, and docks. The group will meet at the boathouse.   • Motorized Boating Tour June 27
    • Join Stacy Cole, Boulder Reservoir manager, for a motorized boating tour from 6 to 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, June 27, at the Boulder Reservoir, to discuss issues surrounding no-wake hours, permit fees, aquatic nuisance species (ANS) inspections and boat storage, and docks. The group will meet at the boathouse.   • Trails and Transportation Walkabout July 12
    • Join Boulder Parks and Recreation Department staff for an on-site walkabout from 6 to 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, July 12, at the 55th Street. Trailhead area to discuss the Boulder Reservoir Master Plan and how it relates to future development and management of the trails and transportation corridors. The walkabout will begin at the 55th Street Trailhead, located at the northwest corner of the reservoir along 55th Stree just south of Monarch Road. The public is invited to walk along and discuss issues surrounding vehicular traffic flows, trailhead access, regional trail connectivity and interior multi-use trail development.   • Special Event Walkabout Aug. 12
    • Join Boulder Parks and Recreation Department staff for an on-site walkabout from 10 to 11:30 a.m. on Sunday, Aug. 12. The group will start at the main Reservoir Office, 5565 N. 51st St. to discuss the Reservoir Master Plan and how it relates to special event programming. Meet at the covered seating area above the restrooms. The public is invited to walk along and discuss issues surrounding traffic patterns, parking management, reservoir event access, event staging and noise levels.
