Limited fire-related OSMP closures to remain in effect
As a result of the firefighting progress made through the weekend, it is no longer necessary to keep as large a portion of Open Space andMountainParkslands closed to public access. The City ofBoulderis re-opening much of the area, effective today, but there are some limited closures that will remain in place to aid in continuing fire suppression efforts.
Closures will remain in effect for all OSMP-managed lands:
In addition, the Bear Canyon Trail, west of the Mesa Trail, will be closed. This includes the area south toShadowCanyon.
Despite this limited re-opening, the City ofBoulderurges users of Open Space andMountainParksto exercise caution given the extreme fire risk that remains across the region. Please be sure you are aware of your surroundings and have at least one alternate way of leaving the area quickly, should conditions warrant. All sources of ignition, including fireworks, smoking materials, lighters, grills and campfires, are prohibited.
Violations of the fireworks ban or closures on Open Space carry fines and penalties up to $1,000 and 90 days in jail.
