THE PLAN:

• Reduce and move toward eliminating the amount of waste going to landfills.

Landfilled solid waste accounts for about 2.5% of Boulder's greenhouse gas emissions. Decomposing landfill waste emits methane, a greenhouse gas over 20 times as potent as carbon dioxide. We need everyone - residents, visitors, students, employers and employees - to divert as much waste as possible from landfills through conservation, recycling, composting and careful sourcing of materials and products.
