Free City of Boulder Water Conservation Fair on Saturday, July 21

The City of Boulder will host a free Boulder Water Conservation Fair to celebrate water and the city's commitment to water conservation from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday, July 21, at the East Boulder Community Park and Recreation Center, 5660 Sioux Dr.

Attendees will learn about the latest lawn and garden irrigation techniques, water conservation strategies, and visit the new turf and xeriscape demonstration gardens, located at East Boulder Community Park. There will be refreshments, fun activities, and prizes for children and adults.

Schedule of events

9 a.m.        

Brief statements by Boulder City Council members, Parks and Recreation Department Director Kirk Kincannon, and Executive Director of the Colorado Foundation for Water Education Nicole Seltzer.

9:30 a.m. to noon                                        

• Classes and presentations of the latest water conservation ideas by distinguished local experts.
• Canoe rides, prizes and giveaways.
• Vendor booths with interactive activities and prizes.

10 a.m. to noon   Tours of the new water wise turf and xeriscape demonstration gardens.
10:30 a.m.        Music with local artists Jeff Kagan and Paige Doughty (of Chautauqua Park's "Meadow Music" fame).
