Aug. 8, 2012 - City of Boulder News Briefs
Media Contacts: City of Boulder News Briefs The East Boulder Community Center (EBCC) will be closed from Saturday, Aug. 11, through Sunday, Aug. 19, for the annual maintenance shutdown. The recreation and senior center reopens on Monday, Aug. 20. Annual maintenance closures allow for deep cleaning and painting of the community center. One of the larger projects for this year’s annual maintenance shutdown is to completely remodel the locker rooms, which will take longer than the normal shutdown. The locker rooms will be closed through Sept. 3, reopening on Tuesday, Sept. 4. The pools, hot tub and steam room will also be closed until Sept. 4. The locker rooms remodel includes renovation of the family locker room; replacement of all tiles in both the men's and women's locker rooms; replacement of all stalls; replacement of fixtures; replacement of counter tops and sinks; re-plastering of the leisure pool; repainting and finishing of the dinosaur slide; and repairs and replacement of all tiles in the steam room. Maintenance at the East Boulder Senior Center side of the building includes refinishing the wood floor in the commons area, waxing all floors, cleaning carpets, painting walls, cleaning windows and deep cleaning the kitchen. A re-roofing project currently underway will be completed. The West Senior Center, located at 909 Arapahoe Ave., will be open normal business hours during this time, Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. For more information on services for seniors, visit www.boulderseniorservices.com.
