Rush-hour accident claims life of motorcyclist
A motorcyclist has died as the result of injuries sustained in a traffic accident which occurred at 30th Street and Oneal Parkway on August 21, 2012.
At 4:53 p.m., the female driver of a 2000 Lexus SUV pulled out of a private parking lot driveway and was attempting to make a left turn onto northbound 30th Street. The driver told police she thought she had enough time to safely make the turn, but a motorcyclist traveling southbound on 30th Street did not have enough time to stop.
Although the motorcycle rider braked to avoid an accident, he collided with the SUV. He was wearing a helmet at the time of the accident.
Witnesses at the scene attempted CPR, but were unsuccessful. Police are not releasing the victim’s name until notifications are made to his family.
The accident is still under investigation.
