City of Boulder Parks and Recreation DepartmentDevelops a Transition Plan for Accessibility
The department's ADA Transition Plan proposes enhancements and modifications to certain parks and facilities to bring them into compliance with ADA requirements. The Boulder Parks and Recreation strives to offer accessibility for everyone and public feedback on the plan is encouraged. In 2010, the United States Department of Justice (DOJ) issued a final rule in order to adopt enforceable accessibility standards under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). These standards assure that state and local government services do not discriminate against individuals on the basis of disabilities. Acting on these final standards, the City of Boulder Parks and Recreation Department has created a transition plan, which outlines compliance with these rules and regulations. The ADA Transition Plan open house was held in conjunction with an open house at the East Boulder Community Center.
