How to Apply for Funding from the Human Services Fund

To ensure that the Human Services Fund is expended in a strategically-focused manner in accordance with Boulder's Housing and Human Services Master Plan, the City of Boulder Department of Housing and Human Services (HHS), in partnership with other human service funders in the community, releases a joint online application . The department awarded approximately $2.6 million in 2011.  All applicants must compete for funding through submission of the joint application.

City of Boulder Human Services Fund applications are only released once every two years.  If an agency receives funding in 2012, the agency receives that same amount in 2013 without submitting a new application.

Eligibility

All agencies and organizations -- public or private, for profit or not-for-profit, governmental or non-governmental -- are eligible to receive Human Services Funding. Agencies and/or organizations must be legal entities which serve, or propose to serve, Boulder city residents. The City of Boulder is interested in supporting minority-focused organizations, grassroots agencies, organizations with annual budgets of $50,000 or more and organizations in existence for three years or less, as well as larger, more established agencies.

2012 Application

The online application for the 2012 funding round became available on  March 28, 2011.  See step-by-step application process below for instructions to register to apply.

Review Process

All proposals will be reviewed and considered by the Human Services Fund Technical Review Committee (TRC) in the spring and summer of the year prior to the first program year. The allocations process is completed by December.

The City reserves the right to reject any or all proposals, to waive informalities and irregularities in proposals received, and to accept any portion of any proposal or all items proposed if deemed in the best interests of the City.
