Yarmouth Improvement Project

Project Status:

The Yarmouth Transportation Improvements Project was completed in October 2009.  The purpose of the project was to upgrade the street so it can better facilitate all travel modes. The project was identified during the North Boulder Subcommunity Plan planning process and is included in the 2002-2007 City of Boulder Capital Improvements Program (CIP).

The following improvements have been completed by the city or coordinated with development:

• Street resurfacing of Yarmouth Avenue from Broadway to 16th streets with bike lanes and sidewalks in both directions;
• Speed display for eastbound Yarmouth at 15th.
• Asphalt widening and street resurfacing with paved shoulders on Yarmouth from 16th Street to U.S. 36 (28th Street);
  • This eliminated the existing asphalt path that runs along the south side of Yarmouth from 16th to 19th streets. Sidewalk and curb/gutter will not be constructed at this time. Signage will be posted indicating that pedestrians and bicyclists can use the paved shoulder facility.
• East of 19th - Pavement widening to accommodate paved shoulders.
• Some storm drainage improvements.
• The overhead electric lines and poles from Broadway to U.S. 36 have been removed and replaced with an underground facility.
