Prairie Dog Interpretive Trail near Boulder Reservoir

The City of Boulder Parks and Recreation Department  completed the installation of a new prairie dog interpretive trail. The trail is designed to inform visitors of the richness and diversity of prairie dog habitats and was developed through a grant from the Dr. Scholl Foundation. To reach the trail, go to Coot Lake on N. 63rd Street (1.5 miles north of the intersection of the Diagonal Highway and 63rd) and the trail is located south of Coot Lake along the maintenance roadway.

Artistic Interpretive Trail at Coot Lake

The City of Boulder Parks and Recreation Department joined with a local artist, Sue Wise, to develop a series of interpretive trail signs that have a distinct flair for seeing and interpreting the natural world in a different way. Using the beautiful art created by Ms. Wise, combined with sayings and interpretations of authors and poets, visitors can be inspired to reflect on the natural environment that surrounds them. To reach the trail, go to Coot Lake on N. 63rd Street (1.5 miles north of the intersection of the Diagonal Highway and 63rd), and the signs are located on the north, west and south edges of the wetland west of Coot Lake.
