Safety FirstContact: Safety First is a program that was developed by the police department with the help of the Association for Community Living. This five-week program was designed to provide safety tips to people with developmental disabilities. The curriculum covers decision-making skills, street smart safety, home security, fire prevention and safety while riding public transportation. The course includes tours of the police department and communications center. The police department offers the course twice each year: once in the spring for adults and again in the fall for adolescents. Click on Safety First audio to hear more about this program.
