The Volunteer Services unit develops, coordinates, and maintains the Volunteer Management System for the Boulder Police Department.  In 2007, volunteers donated about 3,142 hours of their time to the department.  The volunteer hour for 2007 is set nationally at $18.77, meaning that volunteers contributed $$58,984.73 in volunteer time for the year!

What We Do

• Identify and fill positions which enhance the efforts of paid staff.
• Market all volunteer opportunities.
• Recruit for specific positions.
• Conduct orientations for new volunteers.
• Plan, organize, and conduct the annual Appreciation Luncheon.
• Assist staff supervisors and team leaders with their volunteer appreciation and evaluation duties.

Our Volunteer Program

• An outstanding program that has been in place for over ten years.
• Very well-developed Victim Advocate program with 48 volunteers.
• Regularly supports the entire department, working in detectives, records, property and evidence, traffic, patrol, and crime analysis.
• Also includes Citizen Partners who serve on interview boards, working groups, and other areas.
