Adopt-a-Median Program

Help keep Boulder beautiful!

A wet summer combined with budget cuts has left many medians in Boulder looking a little “bedraggled.” Now is the time to make a difference.

Interested parties can apply to adopt a specific median for one year.

What would I have to do?

The adopting organization or person will be asked to:

• Weed.
• Remove trash and debris.
• Prune and perform other basic landscape management tasks on a regular basis during the growing season and on a monthly basis in the non-growing season.
• A minimum of one median or one half-mile of section of roadway right-of-way is required. The city has a list of medians and rights-of-way eligible for adoption.
• Adopting organizations and individuals will be provided with trash bags and safety vests.
• A safety meeting for program participants will be held prior to the initial cleaning.

Transportation Maintenance will mow the area, repair irrigation systems and replace trees and shrubs.

Any and all volunteer help is greatly appreciated to help the city continue services during difficult budget times.
