The Football District sales and use tax of 0.1% that is collected by the State of Colorado sunset on 12/31/2011, so effective 1/1/2012 this tax should no longer be collected, with the exception of leases still in effect.  As a result, Boulder's total tax rate decreased from 8.31% to 8.21%. 

In 2010 voters approved a 0.15% Boulder County tax increase from 0.65% to 0.80%.  Therefore, effective 1/1/11 - 12/31/11 the combined State and City sales tax rate increased from 8.16% to 8.31%.  For 2012, the total Boulder rate is 8.21%.

In 2010 voters also approved a 2.0% increase in the Public Accommodations tax.  Effective 1/1/11, the Boulder accommodations tax increases from 5.5% to 7.5%.  Therefore, the total combined state and city rate for 2011 is 12.40% and for 2012 it is 12.30%.
