Downpayment Assistance Funds Availability

The City of Boulder offers two different down payment assistance programs to help with the purchase of a market-rate home. For a detailed description of these programs read our Summary of Programs page.

Funds are limited - please contact the City prior to signing a contract to determine the amount of funds available.


The House to Home Ownership (H20) Program offers up to 15% of the purchase price of a home to eligible buyers. The assistance is a deferred loan which must be repaid within fifteen years or when the home is sold or refinanced, whichever occurs first.

First come first served.


The First Home Program   The First Home Program offers down payment to qualified households so they can purchase a market rate home in the City of Boulder. The assistance is a grant that stays with the home and the home becomes permanently affordable. The grant ranges from 20% up to $56,000 for a single or 2 person household to 30% up to $90,000 for a 3 person or larger household buying a condo or small town home and 40% up to $150,000 for person households with 2 dependants under 18 years of old buying a single family home or large town home with a private yard. Currently, preference for First Home funds is being given to larger households purchasing single family or large town homes with a private yard as there are very few 3 bedroom or larger homes in the affordable homeownership program.
