Fire Training Center

The New Boulder Regional Fire Training Center

Training Center Construction July 2009

History:

The first Boulder Regional Fire Training Center was placed in operation in 1974 on a two acre site owned by Boulder County, west of Broadway just off Lee Hill Road. Over the years improvements included a five story training tower, a burn building, and offices, classrooms and restrooms in temporary classroom buildings leased from the Boulder Valley School District.

Relocation of the fire training center was first identified in the 1996 Boulder Fire Department Master Plan. Annexations and development in the area brought homes and businesses within 100 feet of the training grounds.

After seven years and examination of dozens of potential sites the Boulder City Council approved a city owned site between the Boulder Reservoir dam and highway 119.
