Department HistoryThe Boulder Police Department is rich in history. Anyone who has walked the halls of the police department has seen the evidence in the photos and memorabalia prominently displayed throughout the building. Local author Silvia Pettem documented the history in a book written for the 125th anniversary of the Boulder Police Department. "Behind the Badge" tells the history of the department from its formation in 1878 to 2002.
