TMP Awards
The City of Boulder's 2003 Transportation Master Plan has won two prestigious awards: the 2004 Metro Vision Award for the Denver Regional Council of Governments (DRCOG) and the National 2004 Institute of Transportation Engineers (ITE) Best Practices Award. The 2003 Transportation Master Plan was created as a Web-based plan and features an interactive Map-It application that allows anyone with internet access to explore the existing and planned transportation system online. These awards highlight the city's strengths in transportation planning and its innovative use of technology.
The DRCOG Metro Vision Award honors public-sector efforts to implement
activities and strategies from Metro Vision, the region's long-range growth plan. The National ITE Transportation Planning Council Best Practices Award honors the best transportation-planning project completed during 2003. The award is bestowed on a project that applies innovative techniques to a planning study and effectively communicates the problem addressed, methods used, and results to the community. The winning submittal demonstrates the best of transportation planning practices in five areas: originality, quality, significance, comprehensiveness, and transferability to other places or agencies. The city will receive recognition at the 2004 ITE Annual Meeting in Orlando, Fla. in August 2004.
