Safety in your car

Tips for traveling safely in your car.

• Keep your car in good running condition.  Make sure there's enough gas to get you where you are going and back.
• Always roll up your windows and lock the car doors, even if you are coming right back to your car or are parked in front of your own residence.  Check inside and out before getting into your car.
• Avoid parking in isolated areas.  Be especially alert in large parking lots and parking garages.
• If you think someone is following you, do not head home.  Drive to the nearest police or fire station, gas station, or other open business to get help.
• Do not pick up hitchhikers.
