BenefitsBoulder Police Department offers a starting salary of $46,365 for new non-certified officers. Colorado POST certified officers may be eligible for up to a 25% increase in starting salary based on qualified prior law enforcement experience.New police officers are given 178 hours of vacation time per year, including holidays, and 100 hours of sick leave. All commissioned staff of the department are members of the Boulder Police Officer's Association (BPOA). BPOA is a collective bargaining unit that provides its members with job related legal representation, life and vision insurance, health club membership and other employee benefits. Commissioned members of the department participate in a professionally managed money-purchase retirement plan with a ten year vesting schedule and a substantial city contribution.
