Division of Fire SafetyUnder the direction of the Chief Fire Marshal, the Division of Fire Safety enhances fire safety and life safety in the community, primarily through the development and enforcement of the Fire Code. The Division inspects new and existing buildings for Fire Code compliance, and is the primary source of general and technical information for property owners, facility managers, contractors and the public on Fire Code requirements. The Division of Fire Safety enhances public safety through Fire Safety educational activities in schools, homes and businesses. The Division also investigates the causes of fires and related incidents, and works with law enforcement officials to reduce the incidence of arson in the community.
