Solar Energy Installations in Boulder

Boulder has an average of 300 sunny days a year, making it a great place for solar energy. Most local utility companies offer substantial incentives for the installation of on-site solar electric systems (photovoltaic or PV). Additionally, there are federal tax credits  available for both PV and solar thermal (hot water) systems.

Since 2005, Boulder has dramatically increased its solar energy investments, particularly in residential photovoltaic systems, and it now has one of the highest per capita PV rates in the country.

Solar sales tax rebate program
The city of Boulder provides a partial sales and use tax rebate  on qualified photovoltaic (PV) or solar thermal (hot water) systems installed within the City of Boulder.  The other portion of the rebate is dedicated to a renewable energy grant fund to install solar systems on affordable housing or site-based non-profits.
