  PACE EnergySmart

The PACE EnergySmart Program offers free services for small businesses in the city of Boulder, the city of Longmont, and unincorporated Boulder County. The program’s goal is to encourage the installation of energy efficiency improvements and to ensure the process is easy and cost-effective for businesses.

Who Can Participate?
• Business must be a sole proprietorship or partnership that operates somewhat independently of a national franchise or headquarters.
• Facility size must be less than 15,000 sq. ft.
• Facility must be located in the city of Boulder, city of Longmont, or unincorporated Boulder County.

What Does the Program Offer?
• A free on-site energy assessment of the facility (a $200 value) to identify lighting, minor HVAC, and other energy conservation options. Assessments usually take 1-2 hours.
• A written report of identified options, including annual energy savings, your estimated cost to implement the option, and simple payback.
• Technical support to implement identified opportunities through pre-approved contractors, including soliciting bids from contractors.
• Project coordination and inspection upon completion of the project.
• Assistance in applying for local utility company rebates and incentives.

Where Do I Start?
• Talk to a PACE EnergySmart representative about your facility and where you think you could be saving energy.
• Consider how much capital you are willing to spend and what payback you need to implement an energy efficiency project.
• If you rent your facility, talk to the building owner about the program and how you both could benefit from energy saving improvements.
• Complete a PACE EnergySmart Program Application. Select the appropriate application below.

In 2008, the program is partnering with Xcel Energy to provide the assessment for businesses that have Xcel Energy as their electricity provider. Xcel will charge you $200 for the audit directly on your monthly bill, and the EnergySmart Program will reimburse your business.
