Pollution Prevention Successes

The primary success of outreach to dental offices is their increased awareness of proper management for hazardous wastes. Most offices are unaware that they should not be disposing amalgam waste in biohazard bags or with regular trash, and that they should not pour fixer down the drain. The city of Boulder and other municipal wastewater treatment facilities anticipate decreased levels of silver and other metals in their influent, leading to improved water quality in the county.
