- Show management support of a company-wide pollution prevention (P2) program by (a) developing a P2 policy or mission statement establishing P2 as a priority and (b) sharing it with all employees.
- List or diagram the major manufacturing processes at your facility and identify the main material inputs and waste and emissions outputs for each process. PACE staff can assist with this step by doing a walk-through of your facility. If your company does not have processes per se, what are the primary operating costs and sources of waste?
- Implement three projects using information compiled for criteria. Collect baseline information and track changes to measure project benefits. Projects don’t need to be process-related or new. The most important project criteria is that improvements are measurable.
- Self-certify that systems are in place to be in compliance with all environmental regulations.
- Submit progress reports for the three projects identified in criteria within six months and annually thereafter.
- Conduct a detailed pollution prevention and energy efficiency walk-through (P2/E2 audit) with PACE, BECC, or consultants.
- Set measurable performance goals to be achieved within one year of site visit. Goals can be associated with any P2 projects, including those identified to complete criteria.
- Complete two additional projects. Review priority waste streams (criteria 2) and project ideas (criteria 3 and 7) or discuss with PACE staff.
- Commit to setting a new goal or developing a new project every two years.
All partners receive follow-up calls or visits twice each year. Advertisements listing all partners are printed in local papers twice each year.
In addition, fully certified partners receive a PACE certificate, PACE window decal and camera-ready logos to include in advertising. When free advertising opportunities arise fully certified partners are promoted.
