Fleet Services Garage

Fleet Services manages the equipment operations and equipment replacement funds, coordinates all fleet acquisitions, repairs equipment or manages outside vendor support, and supports radio acquisition/maintenance for the city and other governmental and non-profit groups.

The Fleet Services workgroup consists of eight mechanics, two radio technicians, three parts specialists, a fleet assistant, the Fleet Maintenance Supervisor, and the Fleet Manager.

The responsibilities of Fleet Services are to:

  • Manage and maintain assets
  • Supply parts, fuel, lubes
  • Manage & administer support services

Environmental Goals:

  • Exceed Clean Fuel Fleet Program mandate
  • Reduce vehicle miles traveled (VMT), fleet vehicle emissions, use of petroleum-based fuels
  • Continue membership in the City PACE program
  • Purchase alternative fuel vehicles (AFVs) and hybrids when possible
  • Purchase vehicles that are more fuel-efficient
  • The city fleet currently has 269 alternative fuel vehicles and equipment.

Fleet coordinates the following external services:

  • Paint and body repair
  • Engine and transmission repair/rebuild
  • Heavy duty suspension service
  • Glass replacement
