The parking lot is on the south side of Longhorn Road. Rain date will be Saturday, April 9. Installation of new trash cans increases efficiency
Visitors to City of Boulder Open Space and Mountain Parks (OSMP) areas will begin seeing new trash cans at trailheads in the coming months. The new cans, made by Bearsaver, are animal proof, safer and more efficient for staff to work with and will hold 15 – 20 percent more trash than those being replaced.

According to Maintenance Supervisor Steve Taylor, this is the second step in efforts to provide better, more efficient service for OSMP visitors. “Our visitors have made the transition from OSMP-supplied plastic bags for dog waste pickup a success by bringing their own bags to supply self-serve tube stations at trailheads,” he said. “These new trash cans will increase capacity and help keep trailhead areas cleaner.” Taylor also reminded visitors to dispose of their bagged dog waste in a trash receptacle, rather than leaving it by the side of the trail.

The first of these new cans have been installed at the Sanitas and Boulder Valley Ranch trailheads, and subsequent installations at other trailheads will occur over the next few months. Remaining areas will be targeted for replacement over the next two years.

Details on trails and trailheads and general OSMP information can be found at www.osmp.org.
