Information on YOAB
Youth Opportunities Advisory Board (YOAB)

  • City of Boulder residents
  • High school age, 14 - 18 years old
  • Designed to represent all sectors of Boulder's youth community
  • Meets on the 1st Friday of each month during the school year, periodically throughout the summer

Responsibilities of the YOAB

  • Make recommendations to the City Manager regarding the Youth Opportunities Fund (YOF)
  • Promote youth access to cultural, recreational, or educational opportunities
  • Advise City Council, City departments, and local agencies on youth-related issues
  • Collaborate with other entities to promote the youth voice in Boulder
  • Celebrate outstanding youth volunteers

The Application Process
Current 8th, 9th, 10th and 11th graders who live in the City of Boulder (including most of Gunbarrel) interested in joining YOAB for next school year are encouraged to apply.  No previous leadership experience is necessary.  You must live in the City of Boulder to be on YOAB.  Applications are due in April. They will be posted on this site in March.

A subcommittee of current YOAB members will read all the written applications and interview applicants.  New memebers will be invited to join based on their potential to positively contribute to the boards' work and their capacity to represent the diversity of Boulder's youth community.
